The Document Window

 < Day Day Up >

A new document opens automatically when you launch Flash MX. You can open additional documents by choosing File ® New or File ® New From Template — a new feature to Flash MX. Figure 23-4 shows that there are seven categories of templates and each one contains Category Items. These are great starter templates for a variety of projects.

Anti-aliasing and dithering are turned off to speed up the display. This option does not affect how your movie exports, only how you view it.

Antialias

The edges of shapes and lines are dithered to make them look smoother. This option does not affect how your movie exports, only how you view it.

Antialias Text

Rulers need to be turned on for guides. Drag a horizontal or vertical guide from the rulers. Submenu options are Show Guides, Lock Guides, Snap To Guides, and Edit Guides.

Snap to Pixel

This option aligns items to the x and y coordinates to be in whole-pixel increments. A 1-pixel grid appears when the Stage is magnified to 400 percent or higher.

Snap to Objects

When you move an item from its origin point, it snaps into alignment with items already on the Stage.

Show Shape Hints

Shape Hints are used when tweening shapes.

Hide Edges

Hide Edges hides the selection pattern without affecting the selection.

Hide Panels
