Creating a Command to Add a Border to Bitmapped Images

 < Day Day Up >

In this section, you make a command that adds a 2-pixel border around bitmap images. These images are full documents and have to have extra canvas to accommodate a border. To make this command, follow these steps:

  1. Open  flowers1.tiff from the chapter21_exercise folder.

  2. In the Property inspector, from the Effects menu choose Shadow and Glow ® Glow.

  3. Use these settings:

    • Width: 2

    • Color: Black

    • Opacity: 100%

    • Softness: 0

    • Offset: 0

  4. Choose Modify ® Canvas ® Fit Canvas, which expands the canvas by two extra pixels all the way around.

  5. Open the History panel in the Frames and History panel group (Figure 21-2).

Figure 21-2: The actions performed on this document. The Fit Canvas command is actually a crop action.

  6. In the History panel, Shift+select both actions.

  7. From the History Options pop-up menu, choose Save Command.

  8. Name the command 2pxborder and click OK. The command is instantly available in the Commands menu. You use this command in a batch process later in this chapter.

  9. Close the image without saving it.
