Federal reporting requirements mandate that parties responsible for an oil or chemical discharge immediately contact NRC, the sole national point of contact for reporting oil, chemical, radiological, and biological discharges. NRT comprises 16 federal agencies with expertise in emergency response to pollution incidents, including those resulting from terrorist acts. NRT provides preincident policy guidance and postincident technical advice and access to response resources.
