Take it to the Limit

[ LiB ]

A lot of people feel as though they really take Flash to the limit of what it can handle. Which prompts the question, "What are the limits of Flash?" Good question, I'm glad you asked. There are two fixed limitations when it comes to what a single Flash document can handle. First of all, you cannot have more than 16,000 frames in any one Flash document. This number refers to the total number of frames in the entire movie, not just one timeline. The other restriction is that you cannot have more than 16,000 symbol instances in any one document.

Although it's very rare that a developer would need to exceed these limits, it does happen from time to time. If that's the case, you'll need to link multiple movies together with an ActionScript command such as loadMovie. Oh, and feel free to let me know if you need to exceed these limits. I'd love to know the reason why.
