Paste in Place

[ LiB ]

Copying and pasting objects to different locations in your document can be frustrating. I'm so used to just using CTRL-C (Copy) and CTRL-V (Paste) in Word or other programs that I always assumed things would be just as easy in Flash. Not that copying and pasting is hard, but there is a little trick to make things more predictable. It may seem that Flash pastes your object in an arbitrary position on the stage, but actually things are pasted dead center of the stage by default. The good thing is that this is not the only way to paste. Another option is to press CTRL-SHIFT-V (or CMD-SHIFT-V on Mac)Paste In Placewhen pasting to paste the object at the exact coordinates you copied it from.

This method only works when using Flash alone, so don't try to grab something from Illustrator and have it pasted in place. How would Flash know what place it started?
