Chapter 15 takes an in-depth look at XML Encryption. Although the encryption effort is not as mature as that associated with the XML Digital Signature standard, it seems unlikely that major changes from what is described here will occur in the XML Encryption standard.
Combining authentication and confidentiality presents a number of problems, which are discussed in Chapter 16.
