Adding Tracks to the Track View

The preceding setup addresses processing and level control but is a little inconvenient while mixing. To place the Aux channel within easy reach, you can add it to the Track Mixer's Track view, automatically adding it to the Arrange window at the same time.

1.

Double-click the bottom of the Aux 1 channel.

The Aux is added to the Arrange window's Track List.

2.

In the Arrange window, drag up the newly created Aux 1 track, dropping it on top of the Violin I track.

The Aux 1 track relocates in the Track List and is now positioned below the Do_dos_2 track (the last of the backing vocal tracks).

3.

In the Track Mixer, turn Global view off by clicking the Global button.

The Track Mixer switches to Track view, displaying the newly added Aux 1 channel (Track 11) just after the Do_dos_2 channel.

This conveniently positions the Aux 1 channel right after the associated block of backing vocal tracks.

You can finish things off by naming the Aux 1 channel and assigning an easily identified color to it.

4.

In the Arrange window's local menu, choose Track > Create Track Name.

5.

Type Back Vox Sub in the text-input box, and press Return.

NOTE

If the new track name does not immediately appear on the channel within the Track Mixer, bring up Screenset 2 to refresh the display.

6.

In the Track Mixer's local menu, choose View > Colors.

The Color palette appears.

7.

Choose a color that suits you by clicking any color square within the palette.

The Channel Name area assumes the selected color.

8.

Click the Solo button on the newly added Back Vox Sub channel to take it out of Solo mode.

9.

Play the song, dragging the fader on the Back Vox Sub channel to adjust the volume level of the backing vocals.

10.

Stop the song when you are happy with the volume level of the backing vocals in relation to the overall mix.
