Summary

This chapter focused on a subset of the available SVG filter primitives that can be used for creating unusual visual effects. Since the expressive power of filters is so vast, they require time and effort in order to master the various ways in which they can be employed. To that end, this chapter gave you some examples that illustrated how to use the following SVG filter primitives, as well as examples of how to combine some of them with an SVG pattern element:

  • feGaussianBlur

  • feFlood

  • feImage

  • feMerge

  • feTurbulence
