Four-Channel Multiplexer/Demultiplexer CardsThe four-channel multiplexer/demultiplexer card (4MD-xx.x) provides add/drop access to four 100 GHzspaced ITU-T wavelength channels. Channels are multiplexed and demultiplexed using a passive cascade of interferential filters. Each of the four optical client input ports on the 4MD-xx.x is equipped with an automatic VOA. The maximum insertion loss for each input channel, assuming the minimum VOA attenuation, is 3.6 dB on input and 3.2 dB on output. ITU-T wavelength channels are accessed on the 4MD-xx.x card using eight LC-PC-II connectors on the front faceplate. The 4MD-xx.xx card is a single-slotted interface card. It can be inserted in the ONS 15454 shelf assembly Slots 16 or 1217. Figure 9-15 shows the faceplate layout of the 4MD-xx.x card. Figure 9-15. The 4MD-xx.x Card Faceplate Diagram
The 4MD-xx.xx adds/drops four adjacent 100 Ghzspaced ITU-T wavelength channels. It is used in concert with the four-channel banded OADM (covered in the next section). Eight discreet product numbers are associated with the 4MD-xx.xx interface card, covering the entire 32-channel MSTP C-band spectrum. Table 9-3 summarizes the product numbers and wavelength assignments for each 4MD-xx.x interface.
