This chapter covers the following topics:
You must consider many factors when you plan to design Multiservice Provisioning Platform (MSPP) networks. Some are obvious and are a function of the traffic requirements and growth forecast for the network: fiber cable sizing, span bandwidth(s), circuit allocation, and so on. However, you must consider other factors that are foundational to the design and that help determine the extent of the network's flexibility and resiliency, as well as its operational characteristics. This chapter examines many of these design components, including protection options, synchronization (timing) design, and network management. In addition, this chapter presents a survey of the various MSPP network topologies, such as linear, ring, and mesh configurations. |
