Acknowledgments

A few years ago, I never thought I'd be writing the acknowledgments for an O'Reilly book. A lot of people have helped me get to this point, and I'm grateful first to Brian Jepson, for introducing me to Derrick Story and the Mac DevCenter team (http://www.macdevcenter.com). Next, of course, is Derrick himself. Derrick's feedback proved invaluable as I first tested my writing chops. And that's to include all of the other wonderful feedback I've gotten on the Mac DevCenter and other O'Reilly sources.

A very big thank you to James Duncan Davidson, for doing an excellent job on the first edition and digging through old backups to find some screenshots that I just couldn't reproduce. Thank you to Chuck Toporek, my editor, for burning the midnight oil and giving me a swift kick when life's other projects took me away from this one. Writing a book is quite a different process from essays and articles; Chuck's patience and guidance were very much appreciated as I made that jump.

I'd like to thank my family and friends for being supportive of my pursuits and not nagging me about spending so much time on the computer. In particular, thanks to Stefan, Eric, Dan, and Willow for helping me stay sane through writing this book. Thanks also to Rich, Fraser, Dave, and Jeff for being excellent companions in my professional life. Shout-outs to the FHP crew and the former RCN CCS department. Finally, the biggest thanks has been saved for Alisa, Dione, and Chris. Thanks for being the best friends anyone could ever ask for and being there to keep me from bouncing off the walls.

P.S. Thanks to John, Paul, George, and Ringo for the great music.
