Section 9: Multicast

Q: RIP V1 uses a broadcast address; would a multicast address such as that used by RIP V2 be required to be transported across a multicast network?

A: No, it is possible to send a broadcast over a multicast network; use your CD if you are not familiar with this solution.

Q: I have managed to configure my network for Multicast Helper but I still do not receive the RIP route in my routing table on R5; is this acceptable?

A: No, you need to have the route installed in the routing table to score any points; debug your routing updates to ensure you are receiving the route at R5 and if it is being accepted as a valid route.
