The Audit Trail

OpenVMS maintains several separate logs of user activities, among them the operator log file and the accounting log file. Collectively, they are known as the audit trail. OpenVMS can be configured to record a large number of events. These include recording user logins and logouts, batch jobs beginning and ending, every program executed by every user, security alarms generated by accessing files and other objects, which privileges were used to access those objects, account creations, login failures, and more.
