The distribution of adb

We've stated that adb is part of the standard UNIX operating system. However, as Sun's Solaris operating environments become more and more modular, even in how they are packaged for installation, we should be a bit more specific about where you'll find adb .

The adb program is a part of the Debugging group of software on Solaris 1 systems.

On Solaris 2 systems, the adb software (not including the man pages) is in four packages:

SUNWcar	Where kadb is found.
SUNWkvm	Where adb and the adb macros are found.
SUNWtoo	Where you'll find the /usr/bin symbolic link for adb . This is also where you'll find the savecore and strings programs.
SUNWesu	Where the adbgen utilities are found. adbgen is a program that helps the programmer generate adb macros.
