Chapter 14: The Rules of the Road to a New Career

Overview

Kathleen, like most people who are in a career transition, wants this process to end. She wants a job, and the sooner, the better. Not particularly extroverted, this finance manager is hoping that she will find something quickly through Internet job boards.

She spends hours each day searching the Internet and responding to postings. Some of them sound like a perfect fit; others sound a little less perfect, but she would take anything that was remotely close at this point.

After several weeks, she has not received one interview request—nor has she heard anything from any of the 100 r sum s she has sent out. She has also called a number of executive recruiters, with no success—no interviews, no offers, no job.
