Changing the Rotation of Chart Text

To change the rotation of the chart title, an axis title, or the axis labels, start by clicking the Layout tab. Next, click Chart Title (for the chart title), Axis Titles (for an axis title), or Axes (for the axis labels). If you're customizing an axis title or a set of axis labels, continue by selecting the appropriate axis-for example, select Primary Horizontal Axis if you're changing the appearance of your horizontal-axis labels. Click the More option at the bottom of the dialog box that appears-for example, click More Primary Horizontal Axis Options. Finally, select the Alignment category in the formatting dialog box that appears. The Alignment dialog box will look something like this:

In most cases, the relevant sections of this dialog box are Text Direction and Custom Angle. If Excel has given you angled axis labels for your horizontal axis and you want horizontal ones instead, type 0 in the Custom Angle text box.
