Welcome to Part II of this Study Guide. The first half of this book and the Solaris Certified System Administrator Part I test concentrate on Solaris administration basics. The second half of this book, starting with this chapter, and the SCSA Part II test focus on more difficult topics such as advanced security, Network File System (NFS) server configuration, advanced disk management, and networking issues.

This chapter covers networking information needed to pass the Part II test. First, the chapter starts with networking concepts. These concepts are not unique to Solaris, but you need to understand them before moving on to more advanced topics. After reading about networking concepts, you'll learn about how Solaris needs to be configured to participate on the network.
