Kalen Delaney

Kalen Delaney has worked with SQL Server extensively since joining the technical support group at Sybase in 1987, shortly after the company's first public product release. Kalen soon began teaching Sybase's Performance and Tuning course. She received the company's Instructor of the Year Award in 1990. Kalen left Sybase in 1992 to become an independent Microsoft SQL Server trainer and consultant. Kalen has been the primary Subject Matter Expert (SME) for two Microsoft SQL Server courses and has helped Microsoft develop training materials for bringing their product support specialists up to speed on the new capabilities and internal behavior of new versions of SQL Server. She teaches these special classes to SQL Server support engineers throughout the United States and around the world.

Kalen has worked more than 22 years in computer and database systems since earning her M.S. degree in computer science at the University of California, Berkeley. She has published numerous articles in SQL Server Professional and Windows 2000 Magazine and currently is a contributing editor and regular columnist for SQL Server Magazine. She lives with her husband and four children in the Pacific Northwest, just a ferryboat ride from Microsoft's Redmond campus.
