Adding text to your photo is an easy way to give it a caption or otherwise label it. If you want to really have some fun, add a text bubble to your photo and then add the text.

Your text object is always easy to adjust by using the nodes, or handles, around the text to resize, re-orient, or move it within your photo.

Key Term

Nodes The handles on the borders of an object that allow you to move it or re-adjust its size.

Add Text to a Photo

Select Photo from the Open Files window

From within PhotoSuite, choose the photo from the Open Files window at the bottom of the screen that you would like to add text to and bring it up in the Canvas window.

Select Add or Edit Text

After your photo is up in the Canvas window, select the Add or Edit Text button from the Enhance window in the tasks pane. This brings up the Text window and places a text box in the center of your photo.

Type in Text

Type the text you would like to place on your photo in the box labeled Type your text here!

Add Additional Text Objects

Add as many text objects as you would like to the photo and enter the text for each one. You can edit the text by selecting the text object you would like to edit.

Set Text Color

Set the text color by clicking on the Color menu. You can use any color you like, or use the dropper tool to sample a color from the photo.

Set Text Font

After you have set the color of the text, choose the font for the text by using the font drop-down menu. The font changes for all text within the selected text object.

Set Text Alignment

By choosing the appropriate icon, you can align the text right, left, or center, and place it in the top, middle, or bottom of the text box.

Set Text Size

After you have aligned the text, make it smaller or larger so it fits well with your picture. Within the Size box, use the + or buttons to increase or decrease the size, or just type in the size value.

Set Text Horizontal Scaling

Besides setting the size of the text, you can stretch the text wider or scrunch it together by using the Horizontal Scaling box. Use the + or buttons or just type in the percent of the width.

Place, Resize, and Re-orient Your Text

After the text is on your photo, you can adjust it to fit your needs by using the bounding box around the text. With the hand icon, drag it to the correct location in your photo. Use the individual nodes to resize it to fit your location, and click and hold the orange rotation icon to rotate the text using your mouse. You can also resize and rotate your text by entering values in the Rotation, Width, and Height boxes in the taskbar.

Note

Using the nodes to resize text changes the size of the font and the horizontal scaling. It's sometimes easier to do it this way, though, so you can easily change it to be the exact size that you need.
