The styles within MyDVD are very nice, but you can personalize your menus by adding your own photos or even a video clip to the background. By adding your own photo or video, you are replacing the preset background entirely. You might only want to set the main background, leaving the other menu backgrounds with the preset style.

Set the DVD Menu Background or Add a Motion Background

Select Menu or Submenu

To set the menu background, select a menu or submenu in the Project View area.

Click Change Menu Background

After you have selected a menu or submenu, click Change Menu Background to bring up the Select Media File window.

Select Photo or Movie File

Use the Select Media File window to find a photo or movie to add as the background for the menu. If you select a movie file, the background is a motion background that plays the movie over and over as long as the menu is up. After you have selected the background, click OK to apply the background.

Tips

After you have added your own background, you can delete the placeholders in the menu style that obstruct the view of the background. You can also change the color and placement of the font if your background makes the text hard to read.

You might want to create a specific movie for the background that is just a short sequence of the beginning of another movie file. This reduces the amount of disc space needed to hold the menus.
