Chapter 5: Customizing Sites

Overview

Each default site, page, and Web Part can be customized in many ways. In turn, every customization contains the promise of further enhancements. This chapter familiarizes you with the tools to customize Windows SharePoint Services and SharePoint Server 2007 to meet both your present and future business requirements.

You can customize sites using the browser interface (no code) or with SharePoint Designer 2007 (limited code) and Visual Studio 2005 (custom code development). This chapter focuses almost exclusively on customization using the browser interface, with a section on how to import custom Web Parts.
