Droplets

Droplets
Q1:

What is a droplet?

A1:

A droplet is an icon that represents an action and it typically sits on your desktop. If you have created an action and want to apply it to an image, you simply drag-and-drop the image thumbnail onto the droplet. If Photoshop is not already running, the droplet will launch Photoshop and then run the action. (You can drag an entire folder of images onto a droplet as well.)

Q2:

How do I create and use a droplet?

A2:

Because a droplet is based on an action, you will need to create an action (see "How do I create my own action?" in the Actions section). To see what actions are already there and to view their F-key shortcuts, choose Button Mode from the Actions palette's flyout menu. Then from the File menu, choose Automate>Create Droplet. In the dialog select a Destination for your droplet (it's best to choose your desktop) and under the Play section assign the action this droplet will perform. Once the droplet appears on your desktop, drag-and-drop an image or a folder onto the droplet.
