Chapter 6: OperationalOrganizational Security

 < Day Day Up >

Overview

In this chapter, we will address all aspects of operational and organizational security as they are strictly specified in the CompTIA domain objectives. It is very likely that the Security+ exam will ask you a plethora of basic level questions regarding the topics that exist in this chapter. Although you have already made your way through the most difficult content chapters in this book, it is imperative that you understand the concepts and information contained in this chapter as well as the chapters that follow. Remember, all questions on the exam are weighed equally. You might answer a question regarding advanced cryptography concepts correctly. Do not follow that up by incorrectly answering a question regarding basic level backups or simple log storage retention.

It can be best said that this is a security concepts chapter. If you have studied for the CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), you will understand this meaning. It’s has more to do with the important implementation of safeguards, education, policies, and procedures than actual software/hardware implementations or a “foot soldier’s” point of view.

Note

Common sense will be your best ally when addressing operational/organizational questions on the Security+ exam. Do not try to “over think” the easy questions.
