A+ PRACTICE EXAMS

The CD-ROM included with this book contains A+ practice exams that will prepare you well for the CompTIA A+ Hardware Service Technician and Operating Systems Technologies examinations.

The practice exams included with the CD-ROM were created by the author specifically and exclusively for this book. Each practice exam is an interactive, timed test that features a review to identify incorrect answers and areas of weakness.

There are four practice exams. The first two exams contain practice questions for the A+ Core Hardware Service Technician test (Section 2A, Chapters 2 through 9). The second two exams contain practice questions for Operating Systems Technologies test (Section 2B, Chapters 10 through 15). Each exam has 80 questions. It is recommended that you take these tests until you score 100% every time. This will ensure your best chance to score well on the real CompTIA A+ examinations.

A+ Exam System Requirements

• CD-ROM drive

• Pentium 1 or equivalent and higher

• 16MB RAM

• SVGA or better video adapter

• Windows 95 or later

• Mouse or compatible pointing device

• Internet Explorer 5.0 or greater with JavaScript enabled. To download IE 6.0, go to microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/ie6/default.asp.

Installation

No installation is required. Simply insert the CD; it should autostart. Click on the hyperlink to start the exam. If the CD does not autostart, navigate to your CD-ROM drive letter, and double-click “A+ Practice Exam” to start the program. You can copy the program to your hard drive by copying the program file and “Include” folder to a local drive.

General Operation

Each exam contains 80 questions and must be completed within 90 minutes. You must correctly answer 64 of the 80 questions in each exam in order to pass. You will receive a score at the end of the exam or at any point you elect to end the exam.

At the end of each exam, a review option is available to check your answers. Exam scores are displayed on the startup page for the last practice of each exam.

Keyboard Shortcuts

There are two keyboard shortcuts available once a practice exam has been started.

To navigate to the next question after starting a practice exam, use Alt+N for Next.

To go back to the previous question, use Alt+B for Back.
