DISABLE


Disables a device driver or service. The opposite command is ENABLE.

Use

Type “DISABLE” followed by the service or driver name. You can use the LISTSVC command for a list of services and drivers on the computer.

Parameters

Service name: Type “DISABLE” followed by a service name, as shown:

DISABLE Messenger

This causes the messenger service to be disabled the next time the computer is booted to Windows. The previous state of the service is displayed as well.

Device driver name: Type “DISABLE” followed by the driver name. The driver will be disabled for the next boot to Windows. The previous state of the service is displayed as well.
