DIR

Lists the volume (drive) label, serial number, and contents, along with codes indicating what each item is and what attributes are set in each.

Parameter

/ followed by a folder name, filename or group of filenames: DIR can limit itself to showing just those folder or file names you select, along with everything within a folder. Wildcard characters can be used with this parameter. Multiple filenames can be used by using wildcards or separating file names with spaces, commas, or semicolons.

Notes

The /p switch is not available with DIR in the Recovery Console because the command runs as if used with the MORE command prompt command.

DIR’s output includes the volume (drive) label, serial number, total number of files, the total size of all displayed items, and the amount of free disk space remaining (in bytes). Other information in the output includes time of last modification, file extension, individual file size, file attributes, and whether the item is a file or directory (folder). The last two items use the codes shown in Table 13.1.
