6.6. Conclusion

Random passwords are currently the most popular user authentication mechanism, but passwords are inherently weak, and it is becoming necessary for system developers to consider other authentication mechanisms. Using the techniques explained in this chapter, an objective and informed choice can be made based on the mechanism, the environment within which it will be used, and customer preferences.
