Introduction

Resources on a computer running Windows XP Professional go beyond files, folders, and Web servers that were introduced in Chapter 5, "Managing Files and Folders." Printers are an important resource on every network, and this chapter introduces you to the installation and management of printers, both locally and across the network. You can even print across the Internet to a remote printer.

You can configure disk partitions in any of three file systems: FAT, FAT32, and NTFS. This chapter also looks at these file systems and their configuration and interconversion.

The ability of mobile users to access information at any time is important in almost every business. Windows provides the Offline Files feature to facilitate access to information even when you are not connected to the network. This chapter looks at how to configure this feature from both ends of a network connection.
