Some final advice on creating applications: Don’t become discouraged if it does not do everything you want it to immediately; the first version does not need to do it all. Build your applications in phases. If you tackle too much at once, you’ll never finish the application. (But you’re already a master at project management, so you knew that.)

As you’ve no doubt seen, VBA is a powerful tool that will let you build incredibly sophisticated applications. Developing a large Project application is, itself, a major project. Which means that you can use Project not only for project management, but also for application development.

However you use Microsoft Project, know that if you follow sound management principles, you’ll end up with a well-managed project. Microsoft Project can’t help you avoid all the twists and turns that occur in any complex project, but it can help you better manage any changes that need to be made as a result. Don’t be afraid to start small and then, over time, ramp up your use of Project across your organization. The better managed your projects, the fewer unpleasant surprises will result!
