Section 11.4. Live Help

11.4. Live Help

For the truly frustrated, Live Help lets you chat instant-messenger-style with a living, breathing eBay customer support person.

Note: Live Help uses pop-up windows . If you have a pop-up blocker installed on your Web browser, you need to turn it off to use Live Help.

From eBay's home page, zip to the right-hand side of the page and click the Live Help link. The chat window that pops up shows links to popular topics in the Help database.

If your question doesn't relate to one of these topics (or if you've been through those topics a hundred times already and couldn't find an answer, which is why you're trying to reach a human in the first place), type in your email address or eBay ID, select a category, and then click the Send button.

Then you can type your question, as shown in Figure 11-3.

Figure 11-3. Live Help lets you chat in real time with an eBay staffer. When this window opens, check the bottom to see the average wait time before a staffer can join you. Type in your question and click Send, then keep an eye on the window. When someone is available, a greeting appears there while they read your question and prepare a response.

Tip: Live Help can get extremely busy at times, so you might answer your own question more quickly by searching the Help database or the Answer Center (Section 11.7).
