Every time someone makes a recording (or writes a show note) they create "intellectual property." That property is recognized and protected through a system called copyright. If you're podcasting as a hobby, you might not think you should be worried about copyright, but even if you don't care much about copyright, the people who wrote and recorded the music that you might want to use in your podcast probably do. In this chapter, we'll take a look at copyrights and how to use themwhether they're yours or belong to someone else.
