Images from Other Sources

You aren't limited to only images from the Microsoft Clip-Art database. You can also easily insert items from external devices (such as digital cameras or scanners) or even bring in images from other Internet sources.

Inserting Images from an External Device

You can insert any image from an external device, such as a scanner or camera, directly from within FrontPage. FrontPage will let you choose the source of the file and will pull it directly from the device.

If you are using a scanner, you will also be able to activate your specific scanning software as you would from any other program that utilizes the scanner. After you have selected From Camera or Scanner from the Pictures menu item, follow the directions specific to your camera or scanner.

Inserting Images from Other Internet Sources

It is possible to call any graphic from any file source, including other Web sites. Instead of selecting the file location in the Picture dialog box, you simply enter the URL of the picture as seen in Figure 6.15.

Figure 6.15. You can insert a picture in to your Web site from any available online location.

CAUTION

Make sure that you have permission to pull a graphic directly from someone else's Web site before you do so. Stories have been told of Webmasters who found others "borrowing" graphics and bandwidth from their sites and replaced them with less than suitable images.
