Content cut and pasted from a Word document into a FrontPage HTML file is edited as any other page in your FrontPage Web site would be. If you want to edit content in FrontPage that was developed and saved in Word, you will need to tell FrontPage to react accordingly. We examine both processes in this section. Editing Word Content in FrontPageBy default, in a FrontPage Web site, content created in a certain application will be edited by that product (if the product is installed on the machine). As a result, clicking content created by Word within FrontPage will open the content in Word unless otherwise specified. To edit Word created HTML content from within FrontPage, right-click the file in the Folder List and choose FrontPage (Open as HTML) from the Open With option, as seen in Figure 39.7. Figure 39.7. Right-clicking a file in FrontPage lets you choose the application you want to edit the content with.If you need to edit content created by Word, consider editing the original source files and then re-saving the content as HTML. The other option is to open and edit the files from within Word through FrontPage so that edits are saved directly to the site with the proper Word content. Using FrontPage to edit content created in Word should only be done as a final resort. When you use Word to edit your content, you have all the tools provided by Word and won't always know when these were used in the design process. It is always a good idea to go back to the original source program when editing content.
