Web design and development is no longer a solo activity. Simply too many skills and talents are required to put together an effective and powerful Web site. More times than not, you need a team to help you accomplish the task of developing a successful Web site. The good news is that FrontPage 2003 can help in the process of working with a design team. On the most basic level, design-related tools such as the dynamic Web templates allow you to develop templates that can't be "broken" by the careless information worker or FrontPage Themes. Another is CSS, which makes sure that a Web maintains a similar look and feel no matter how many people are working on it.
For more information on the use and design of Dynamic Web Templates in the design process, see "Dynamic Web Templates," p. 411.
For more information using style sheets to manage a site look and feel, see "Using Style Sheets to Format Web Pages," p. 385. Tools are also built in to FrontPage that assist with the management side of working with a group of developers. We'll examine those issues in this chapter and section of the book. In this chapter, we'll examine developing a team to manage the project and then look at the technology decisions that need to be made before the project can begin. In the Chapter 32, "Collaboration with FrontPage 2003," we'll look at the collaboration process and the tools FrontPage 2003 provides to make it easier to manage and entire team. In Chapter 33, "Managing Workflow and Tasks in the Design Process," we'll look at management of workflow and tasks from the FrontPage interface. |
