Front and Center: Why Use Quick Tag Tools?

Now that you know how to use the Quick Tag Tools, why would you want to use them as opposed to just editing your code in Code view? There are many answers to that question, but one of the most useful reasons to use the Quick Tag Tools is that you can edit your HTML code in a non-destructive manner.

If you edit your code in Code view, any changes you make are applied to your page in real-time. Usually this isn't a big deal, but if you make a mistake in your code editing inside of a complex page (such as a page with nested tables), it is easy to get the page into a state that is hard to get out of. FrontPage's undo feature will help in some cases, but it's not always a lifesaver if you aren't sure exactly what you did.

With the Quick Tag Tools, you can carefully edit HTML tags in the Quick Tag Editor dialog. If you make a mistake while editing a tag, you can stop and safely click the Cancel button and your change isn't applied to the page. If you're editing a complex style tag or other complex tag structures, the Quick Tag Tools are often the best method of tag editing.
