Defining Object Styles (continued)


You will most likely want to create your own object styles.

To create a new object style:

1.

Choose New Style from the Object Styles palette menu.

or

Hold the Opt/Alt key and click the New Style icon in the Object Styles palette. The New Object Styles dialog box appears .

Use the New Object Styles dialog box to define the attributes of an object style.

2.

Use the Name field to name the style.

3.

Use the checkboxes to control which categories are part of the style . Unchecked categories are not part of the style .

Click the category controls to choose which attributes should be included in the object style.

4.

Use the Based On field to base one style on another.

5.

Click the Reset To Base button to remove all differences between one style based on another.

6.

Click OK to create the style.

The easier way to define an object style is to format the object and define the style by example.

To define an object style by example:

1.

Select a sample object.

2.

Use the palettes and commands to format the object.

3.

Choose New Style from the Object Styles palette menu.

or

Hold the Opt/Alt key and click the New Style icon in the Object Styles palette. The New Object Styles dialog box appears.

4.

Name the style.

5.

Click OK to create the style.

Tip

Object styles can be duplicated just like text styles.
