CMMI Supplemental Resources

USA also used a number of other publicly available CMMI resources to prepare for the case study and to help with CMMI familiarization, training, and transition:

  • "Advice for Change Agents" [SEI 3]

  • CMMI Distilled: A Practical Introduction to Integrated Process Improvement [Ahern 01]

  • "CMMI Frequently Asked Questions" [SEI 4]

  • "CMMI Risk Management Requirements" [Hefner 01]

  • The 2001 High Maturity Workshop Technical Report [SEI 01c]

  • Mapping of SW-CMM 1.1 to CMMI SE/SW 1.0 [STSC 1]

  • The Measurement and Analysis Process Area in CMMI 2002 [SEI 02g]

  • "Transitioning Your Organization from SW CMM Version1.1 to CMMI-SW Version 1.0" [SEI 1]

To enable standardization across projects, the team chose to use a spreadsheet template for recording data. This template was based on Microsoft's Excel program, contained the CMMI practices, and was organized by PA. The Excel files linked to the model to enable easy access when team members needed to review more details about a practice.
