CMMI Training

USA planned for CMMI training to ensure that the team in the case study had the requisite knowledge and a foundational understanding of the model to support evaluation of processes against the model. To obtain these skills, students attended the course "Introduction to CMMI." The team leader for the case study attended the "CMMI Intermediate" course for an advanced understanding of the model.

The majority of the students were familiar with the SW-CMM. Participants other than those involved in the case study were also included in training. This approach introduced the idea to others that future deployment of CMMI at the corporate level across company-wide processes may occur. As a result of this approach, the Logistics group has since adopted CMMI.

Most of the case study participants (e.g., managers and practitioners interviewed or solicited for project information) did not attend CMMI training. The case study team translated project practices to eliminate the need for other case study participants to learn about CMMI model content.
