Prepare Your PC for an ASA/PIX UpgradeTo recover your ASA/PIX Security Appliance with version 7, you must have a PC with a TFTP server, and you must configure you network interface card to allow connectivity to the security appliance. You can install any number of free TFTP servers from the Internet on your PC. Any implementation of TFTP should work for this download. NOTE Your PC can be either a Windows- or Linux-based machine. For this book, Windows was used as the primary operating system so that is what the examples show. Before you can transfer the software from your PC to the ASA/PIX Security Appliance, you must establish a network connection between the two. This connection requires configuration on the PC as well as configuration on the appliance. If you already know how to do this procedure of connecting the two machines, use the following steps only as a reference. If you have no experience in doing this, however, you can follow the instructions step by step and to move the file from the TFTP server to the ASA/PIX Security Appliance:
