ECHO is used to test the connection to a remote system by sending data to the ECHO server on that system. If the connection is successful, the server returns the data transmitted in the sequence that the data was entered. HP NonStop server TCP/IP ECHO does not service UDP ports.
The components of ECHO are:
ECHO
ECHOSERV
ECHO is the HP NonStop server ECHO client. It is used to interactively test the connection to a remote system. The remote system need not be another NonStop server.
ECHOSERV is the HP NonStop server ECHO server. It responds to ECHO requests from remote clients .
BP-FILE-ECHO-01 ECHO should be secured "UUNU".
BP-OPSYS-OWNER-01 ECHO should be owned by SUPER.SUPER.
BP-OPSYS-FILELOC-01 ECHO must reside in $SYSTEM.SYSnn.
BP-FILE-ECHO-02 ECHOSERV should be secured "UUNU".
BP-OPSYS-OWNER-03 ECHOSERV should be owned by SUPER.SUPER.
BP-OPSYS-FILELOC-03 ECHOSERV resides in $SYSTEM.ZTCPIP.
