Baseline Capabilities

The exercise of power does not necessarily require social savvy, whereas the ability to influence other people clearly does. To be an effective influencer requires a keen ability both to assess where others stand vis--vis you and your agenda and to know your own style. These two elements constitute baseline capabilities for influencing other people in conflict-management situations.
