Exam Essentials

Understand the five sections included in a response to an RFP or in a design document. A response to an RFP or design document includes the executive summary, design requirements, design solution, summary, and appendixes.

Identify the purpose of the response to an RFP or design document’s executive summary. The executive summary section should be at a higher level than most other sections of the response to RFP or design document. It should include a brief description of the purpose, the proposed design, the implementation, and the benefits to the customer.

Know the difference between a pilot and a prototype. A pilot is smaller in scale, requires fewer resources, and generally is used to prove smaller portions of a design. A prototype is larger in scale and can be used to prove sections or modules of network design.

Understand Cisco’s ECN model design modules. Using a layered approach, modular security design allows the designer to address the security relationship of the network design security on a module-by-module basis.

Know the typical devices found in the modules of Cisco’s ECNM. The Network Edge module contains firewalls, DMZs, access servers, VPNs, and routers. The Network Campus module contains network devices, servers, users, and resources.
