Chapter 12: Post-Design Issues

CCDA Exam Topics Covered in this Chapter:

  • Given a network design or a set of requirements evaluate a solution to incorporate equipment and technology within a Campus design.

  • Given a network design or a set of requirements evaluate a solution to incorporate equipment and technology within the Enterprise Edge design.

  • Evaluate solutions for compliance with SAFE architecture.

  • Develop a prototype testing plan.

  • Develop a verification plan.

This chapter will present several post-design issues that you should be familiar with. We will begin by discussing how to respond to the customer’s request for proposal (RFP) and how to prepare a design document if the customer did not issue an RFP. This design document presents your design as a solution to the customer’s requirements; we will describe the major sections that you should include in your response to the customer’s RFP.

We will also discuss how to implement either a pilot or a prototype of your proposed internetwork. These can be powerful tools in proving to your customer that your designs will actually work in the real world. We will review the steps required to complete both pilots and prototypes.

Finally, this chapter will discuss the Cisco Enterprise Composite Network model (ECN), which allows you to take a modular approach to securing your network.
