As mentioned in the "Strengths and Weaknesses" section of this chapter, one of the weaknesses of WAS is its complexity. In our view, IBM has attempted to mitigate this weakness by offering WAS V5 product versions in increasing levels of function and complexity. From the basic Web application functions included with WAS Express, to the sophisticated functions of WAS Enterprise, the WAS V5 product set is structured to provide the appropriate set of functions (hence complexity) to meet a business's solution needs:
WAS Express (servlets/JSPs, JavaScript, samples, embedded Apache, local OS authorization)
