Chapter 10. Managing Your Tasks and Transactions

Issues Covered

In This Chapter

  • How can you use technology to help manage your tasks?

  • How can you use electronic forms to ease transactions?

  • How can (and why should) you create a digital transaction library?

  • What online resources arethere to support out-of-area transactions?

When you're in the middle of a deal, the number of details to track can be overwhelming. And the number of details only seems to multiply as contractual and legal requirements increase to protect clients. If you have multiple clients, keeping track of all the particulars can be overwhelmingyet a missed appointment or deadline could cost you business or open you up for complaints.

Likewise, missing a key document in a transaction could cause your client to lose out on an offer or unknowingly enter into a bad deal. Not only must you manage your tasks, but you must also manage the information associated with them.

For many agents, the majority of their efforts revolves around getting new clients and keeping track of the available inventory of properties. In your business strategy, it's easy to put off dealing with the transaction details.

But don't let transaction management get short shrift. A well-managed transaction is usually a smooth one that both impresses and protects your client. Take the time to figure out your transaction system and the tools to support it.
