10.7. ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute)

ETSI is an independent, nonprofit organization in Europe whose mission is to develop telecommunications standards for today and for the future.

The following ETSI standards are relevant to RFID:

  • ETSI TR 101 445 V1.1.1 (2002-04). Electromagnetic Compatibility and Radio spectrum Matters (ERM); Short Range Devices (SRD) intended for operation in the 862 MHz to 870 MHz band; System Reference Document for radio frequency identification (RFID) equipment.

  • ETSI I-ETS 300 220 ed.1 (1993-10). Radio Equipment and Systems (RES); Short Range Devices (SRD); Technical characteristics and test methods for radio equipment to be used in the 25 MHz to 1,000 MHz frequency range with power levels ranging up to 500 mW. This is currently composed of the following three parts:

    Part 1. V1.3.1 (2000-09). Technical characteristics and test methods

    Part 2. V1.2.1 (1997-11). Supplementary parameters not intended for regulatory purposes

    Part 3. V1.1.1 (2000-09). Harmonised EN covering essential requirements under article 3.2 of the R&TTE Directive

  • ETSI EN 300 330 V1.2.2 (1999-05). ElectroMagnetic Compatibility and Radio Spectrum Matters (ERM); Short Range Devices (SRD); Technical characteristics and test methods for radio equipment in the frequency range 9 kHz to 25 MHz and inductive loop systems in the frequency range 9 KHz to 30 MHz. This is currently composed of the following two parts:

    Part 1. V1.4.1 (2004-11). Technical characteristics and test methods

    Part 1. V1.2.1 (2004-11). Harmonised EN under article 3.2 of the R&TTE Directive

  • ETSI I-ETS 300 440/C1 ed.1 (1996-04). Radio Equipment and Systems (RES); Short Range Devices (SRD); Technical characteristics and test methods for radio equipment to be used in the 1 GHz to 25 GHz frequency range. This is currently composed of the following two parts:

    ETSI EN 300 440-1 V1.3.1 (2001-09). Technical characteristics and test methods

    ETSI EN 300 440-2 V1.1.2 (2004-07). Harmonised EN under article 3.2 of the R&TTE Directive

  • ETSI EN 300 674 V1.1.1 (1999-02). Electromagnetic Compatibility and Radio Spectrum Matters (ERM); Road Transport and Traffic Telematics (RTTT); Technical characteristics and test methods for Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC) transmission equipment (500 kbps / 250 kbps) operating in the 5,8 GHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band. This is currently composed of the following two parts:

    ETSI EN 300 674-1 V1.2.1 (2004-08). General characteristics and test methods for Road Side Units (RSU) and On-Board Units (OBU)

    ETSI EN 300 674-2-1 V1.1.1 (2004-08). Harmonised EN under article 3.2 of the R&TTE Directive

  • ETSI ETS 300 683 ed.1 (1997-06). Radio Equipment and Systems (RES); Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard for Short Range Devices (SRD) operating on frequencies between 9 KHz and 25 GHz.

  • ETSI EN 300 761 V1.1.1 (1998-01). Electromagnetic Compatibility and Radio Spectrum Matters (ERM); Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) for railways. This is currently composed of the following two parts:

    ETSI EN 300 761-1 V1.2.1 (2001-06). Technical characteristics and methods of measurement

    ETSI EN 300 761-2 V1.1.1 (2001-06). Harmonised standard covering essential requirements under article 3.2 of the R&TTE Directive

  • ETSI EN 301 489. Electromagnetic Compatibility and Radio Spectrum Matters (ERM); ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) standard for radio equipment and services. This is currently composed of the following 30 parts:

    ETSI EN 301 489-1 V1.5.1 (2004-11). Common technical requirements

    ETSI EN 301 489-2 V1.3.1 (2002-08). Specific conditions for radio paging equipment

    ETSI EN 301 489-3 V1.4.1 (2002-08). Specific conditions for Short Range Devices (SRD) operating on frequencies between 9 KHz and 40 GHz
