Checklists for Life

Conclusion

Now that you have more than one hundred checklists, all neatly provided in book form, you may think you can put away your pencil and never bother writing a list again. Not true! In fact, this book is meant as a starting point for getting organized, asking the right questions—and to getting into the habit of making your own lists.

Your own “to do” lists will likely run the gamut, from groceries to business ideas. But whatever their subject, your lists—like the ones in this book—will serve as a string around your finger, reminding you of what you need to do, and perhaps how or when to do it.

Your lists don’t need to be formal (and they certainly don’t need to be in a book), but they must be written down somewhere. Keeping a list in your head doesn’t count! When a list is rattling around in your memory instead of on paper (or an old candy wrapper or torn envelope), it’s unable to perform its chief duty: saving you from your own hectic schedule and forgetfulness.

So pop a notebook into your briefcase and throw a memo pad into your car’s glove compartment. You’ll welcome the peace of mind that list-making brings.
