Chapter 3. Scripting Basics

This has nothing to do with penmanship, but your writing style is still being graded!

I spent quite a bit of the first chapter discussing the common language runtime, and I'll touch on it a bit here too. Dozens of languages are supported in .NET, either natively or through third parties.

I am very often asked the question, "If there are so many languages, which one should I use?" You may as well ask me "What shampoo should I use?" because the answer is the same. It's your own personal choice.

If you come with some understanding of a particular supported .NET language, then I might recommend you use your experience in that language to help you move forward faster into building .NET applications. You can easily understand many of the concepts in this book and they'll be a cinch for you to port over to your chosen language.
