After you import a picture into a document, you have many options for changing its appearance. You can crop it in a rectangular or freeform frame or manipulate it with three transformation tools ‚ the Rotation, Scale, and Shear tools. The Transform pane and Control palette both let you perform the same modifications as the transformation tools and offer other choices for modifying pictures, including moving, scaling, skewing, and flipping. For gray-scale and bitmap pictures only, you have the option to apply a color and a tint to the image.
The Fitting command (Object ‚ Fitting) provides four options for positioning and scaling a picture relative to its frame, while the Links pane displays link- related information about imported pictures and lets you update links for pictures that are missing or have been modified.
