Installation Decisions

Now that you have decided to try out the new features of Oracle Database 10g, let's focus on a few preliminary steps in the installation process. The Oracle Database 10g software is available online for downloads from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN) website (http://otn.oracle.com, specifically from http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/index.html) or on discs (CD or DVD formats). If your company has a valid support agreement with Oracle Support, you can log an iTAR asking Oracle to send the installation CDs to you. The database usually comes in a single (Enterprise/Standard Edition) downloadable file or CD along with a companion CD or file. The installation process itself is an easier and quicker one than for the Oracle 9i database.
